Best of 2018

December 31, 2018

As New Years Eve is quickly upon us, it’s hard not to reflect upon the highlights of 2018…

By changing the way that I shoot images earlier this year (moving away from bracketing and HDR to more traditional one shot in camera using NISI graduated and neutral density filters), I had a big step up in the quality and clarity of my images. I could not be happier with the results! Needless to say, I went through an extremely productive phase of being constantly out shooting and seeing what I could do!

I was so fortunate in March that a photography friend sent me a link to an upcoming light painting workshop that was to be held in Sydney. I knew nothing about it - but on a whim, booked myself into the workshop and my mind was blown! To be able to have spent 6 hours learning techniques from the likes of Dennis Smith, Rob Turney, Pala Teth, Patrick Rochon, creating one of a kind beautiful pieces - and to get half decent result on your first try was very encouraging (and addictive!).

I was absolutely thrilled in April and May to have had two of my images included in group exhibitions as part of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale Yellow Dot Exhibition and Fundraiser at both Eleven40 Gallery, Malvern and Mitchell Harris Wines, Ballarat.

So here’s to the new year - may we all find more time to do the things that we love and see where that takes us!

Fi xx
